SUGGESTIONS FOR ENGAGING YOUR AUDIENCE:
In my experience people love playing Family Feud. This has been one of my most common, successful methods of engaging audiences from many different countries and walks of life in English and Spanish since 2007. I model it here in this video. It even works out better in-person. I also give suggestions for involvement at the end of this video such as giving out prizes (e.g. gag prizes as well as real prizes). Use a game-show-style delivery once in a while in your toolbox talks like you see here, and your team will look forward to your safety huddles!
Before you show this video, I suggest doing to things:
1.) Ask that same question #1 above: What injuries have you avoided thanks to your boots?
Get some input, feedback and personal stories.
2.) Then, ask them to listen for what the video leaves out in questions 2, 3 and 4.
People are usually very eager to share something they identified that the video didn’t mention. This is good and shows that another set of eyes is a good thing, and how we should never disregard or reject the warnings or reminder of a coworker or another trade on the job.
